Dear Members and Friends of the Carroll County Democratic Committee:
I am writing to invite you, your family, and/or guests to our annual Fall Democratic Dinner this Sunday, October 30 at 6 p.m. at the Countryside Restaurant. I am hopeful that we can continue our tradition to pack the house and show our support for our outstanding candidates. Please help spread the word about our gala event. In addition, you may be a dinner sponsor for $50 per person which includes a free meal and photo or you may simply pay $10.50 to the restaurant for the all-you-can-eat buffet (kids $4.99). If you would like to be a dinner sponsor, please email me at mcgradylaw@psknet.com or call (276) 728-2591. You may also let us know at the door if you wish to be a sponsor and pay when you come to the dinner.
We should be very proud of our slate of candidates. Roscoe Reynolds has done an outstanding job representing Carroll County in the Virginia Senate and it is extremely important that we return him to Richmond. Roscoe’s seat could control the entire balance of power between the Democrats and Republicans. Imagine how horrible it would be if the Republicans gain control of the Senate which would allow them to swiftly pass their radical agenda since they currently control the Virginia House and Governor’s mansion. Also, it is critical that we re-elect Sam Dickson, Wes Hurst, and Manus McMillian back to the Board of Supervisors. They have done an excellent job despite the current economic recession. In fact, under their leadership, there has been no increase in taxes during the last four years, our “rainy day fund” has continued to grow, and major initiatives, including water and sewer for all I-77 exits, have been completed to foster new jobs and economic development. Our team also includes Supervisor Candidate Gerald Goad who compliments our slate with bright fresh ideas to move Carroll County forward.
I briefly want to comment on our fall dinner ad that was recently in the Carroll News. The newspaper made an obvious mistake by combining an ad for a candidate running for School Board into the bottom of our ad which appeared to be an endorsement from our committee. Since School Board offices are non-partisan, the Carroll County Democratic Committee neither endorses nor rejects any candidate. The Carroll News will be taking steps in next week’s edition to remedy their error.
If you would like to volunteer on Election Day, please contact me. We need poll workers and would appreciate any time that you may have. I also want to invite you to our election night gathering on November 8 at 7 p.m. at Stingray’s Restaurant which will also be our November Democratic Committee meeting.
Please make every effort to attend our fall dinner this Sunday, October 30. Our dinner will feature great acoustic music by local favorite Aaron Boswell plus brief speeches by all of our candidates. Independent Senatorial Candidate Brandon Bell will also be present who is running against a hard-core Republican for the other Senate seat in Carroll County in which there is not a Democratic candidate. There will also be great door prizes. Also, at the conclusion of the dinner, I will conduct a brief Democratic Committee meeting to finalize our election plans.
I very much appreciate your support and thank you for any assistance you can render to lead our Democratic team to victory!
With warmest regards, I am
Sincerely,
Jonathan L. McGrady
